Training Pull at Home
- 11 Jun, 2025
In a previous blog, I went over the basics of bodyweight exercises mentioning how to train push muscles along with legs and abs at home with no equipment, but pull muscles were completely left out, since you cannot train these muscles with no equipment. However, this equipment doesn’t have to be worth thousands of dollars, it could simply be a grocery bag filled with items to weight it down.
The basic principle of muscle building is to put them up against resistance, and therefore, no matter how this resistance is provided there is scope for muscle building. To create your own resistance you need anything heavy, it could be a school bag, a grocery shop bag, or anything else your parents let you lift for a workout, take this thing and simply act like it is a dumbbell, and go ahead and do your curls and rows. You can adjust the weight by adding more books or putting other things in the bag giving you freedom to increase the weight by even really tiny margins.
In many ways these kinds of exercises may even be more helpful than real dumbbells, since they more closely reflect movements you’ll have to perform in real life, as everything you pick up will not have a grip to rely on. So go on and make your own weights, you’re now completely out of excuses for not training.
